Little Mermaid to Make a Splash at Beenleigh

One for all the family, Phoenix Ensemble presents a little slice of Disney magic to the Pavilion Theatre at Beenleigh, SE QLD, with the musical, The Little Mermaid.

Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and, of course, the 1989 animated movie, The Little Mermaid tells the story of the strong willed mermaid, Ariel and her determination to be “where the people are”. Alan Ayckbourn's 73rd play, My Wonderful Day premiered in 2009. His website states that his major inspiration for writing this play was autobiographical, drawing on childhood memories of accompanying his mother to meetings and social gatherings, where - ignored - he would quietly watch and absorb the secrets and indiscretions of adults.

Stagecraft Community Theatre Conference at NIDA

Jemma Rix will be the keynote speaker at the Association of Community Theatre’s tenth conference, to be held at NIDA on October 1 and 2, 2016.

ACT – an umbrella organisation for 150 community theatre companies - holds a conference every two years with seminars aimed at performers, directors and backstage theatre participants.

Jemma Rix – now a major star of the musical theatre stage - cut her teeth at Gosford Musical Society before working her way up to star as Elphaba in Wicked and more recently in Ghost.
