While Roleystone Theatre (the building) is being rebuilt, Roleystone Theatre (the company) are temporarily performing at Roleystone Hall. While this Community Hall is limiting the show choice in many ways (the company needs to bump-out between most performances and cannot use a complex set), there have been some inspired choices of show that are embracing this unusual venue, and Cosi uses this space to its advantage.

THIS family production is perfect for our times. It is bright and colourful. It has some sparkling performances, terrific orchestration, is wonderfully lit and, above all, it is very, very funny.

For those who are followers of The Handmaid’s Tale, or remember the 1971 Omega Man, embraced the recent Quiet Place films, or whose memories stretch back to Shute’s 1957 On The Beach, Hibernation is a dystopian tale that yet again reminds us that there are consequences of choices made, often dire, of human behavior, and sometimes the solutions, expendable as they seem, can be as bad or worse than the problem.

Opening one week later than originally scheduled (because of Covid lockdown), this year’s major production of the Griffith Performing Arts students, Grease, was one of their best.

With a towering four-level scaffolding-type set with multiple staircases by Adam Gardnir, a plethora of late fifties dance-moves by Dan Venz, and a kick-ass band under Heidi Loveland, Rydell High buzzed with life and energy.
