Love Burns Begins National Tour

State Opera South Australia begin a two-month national tour of the darkly funny chamber opera Love Burns by Graeme Koehne, with libretto by Louis Nowra, on October 19, 2022

The storyline is based on the 1940’s true crime American serial killer couple ‘the honeymoon killers,’ and delivers mischievous comedy with masterful musicality.

Terracini quits

Opera Australia has announced that after 13 years at its artistic helm, Lyndon Terracini is leaving his role as Artistic Director, more than a year before his contract ends.

The company said that "it was agreed by all that now is the right time for him to step down" to allow him to explore a range of opportunities in Australia and overseas.

Opera Australia has had a difficult time of late - reporting a $22.6 million operating loss in 2021 due to the on-going impact of Covid-19.

Phantom to Close on Broadway

The curtain is to come down on The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway early next year.

A statement on the show's website said, "We are sad to confirm that after 35 years on Broadway, Phantom will play its final performance at the Majestic Theatre on Saturday February 18th, 2023.

"Tickets are currently on sale for performances through January 22nd, 2023, and we expect the final block of tickets to be placed on sale shortly."
