Paul Capsis to Star in New Production of Cabaret

The Kit Kat Club is returning to Sydney in all its decadence for a new Australian revival of Cabaret at Hayes Theatre Co. from 9 January 2017 starring Paul Capsis as The Emcee. Cabaret will then play the Athenaeum Theatre, Melbourne from 27 April 2017.

My Fair Lady Melbourne Cast

Producers, Opera Australia’s Lyndon Terracini and John Frost, have announced the principal cast for the Melbourne season of Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady, directed by Julie Andrews, which opens on May 12, 2017 at The Regent Theatre.

The Red Detachment of Women for Melbourne

Famously performed for President Nixon and Henry Kissinger on their historic visit to the People’s Republic of China in 1972, the National Ballet of China’s The Red Detachment of Women will make its Australian debut at Arts Centre Melbourne from 15 – 18 February 2017.

State Theatre Company of SA’s Popular Mechanicals to Tour Nationally in 2017

The State Theatre Company of South Australia’s The Popular Mechanicals embarks on a national tour in 2017, with seasons announced in every State
 and Territory except Queensland. Highlights include a six-week season in Sydney presented by Sydney Theatre Company, the continuation of strong presenting relationships with Canberra, Geelong and Wollongong, a rare visit to Alice Springs and a six town regional SA tour presented by Country Arts SA.

Mack and Mabel for The Hayes

Working Management in association with Hayes Theatre Co has announced the first Sydney professional production of Jerry Herman’s MACK AND MABEL, which will play a strictly limited season at Hayes Theatre Co from November 18. A musical comedy that is both a poignant love story and a joyous celebration of Hollywood’s golden age, MACK AND MABEL is based on the real-life tumultuous romantic relationship between early 1900s legendary filmmaker Mack Sennett and accidental starlet Mabel Normand.

Trisha Noble Joins Ladies in Black Tour Cast

Trisha Noble has been announced to join the cast of Ladies in Black for the national tour in 2017.

Ladies in Black,produced by Queensland Theatre Company, will open in Sydney on 3 January 2017 for its premiere season in the city in which the story is based. The show will then return for an encore season to Brisbane from 28 January, before another encore season in Melbourne from 25 February, and to Canberra from 27 March.

Trisha will play the dual roles of Miss Jacobs and Mrs Crown.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical

Carmen Pavlovic, CEO of Global Creatures, has announced that Baz Luhrmann’s film Moulin Rouge! will come to the theatrical stage as a new musical with a book by John Logan, directed by Alex Timbers.

Developmental work on the show is underway, and a production time-line and opening venue will be announced at a later date.

My Fair Lady - Melbourne and Brisbane Seasons

Producers John Frost and Opera Australia’s Lyndon Terracini are haveo announce today (Monday August 22, 2016) that Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady directed by Julie Andrews will play seasons in Brisbane and Melbourne following the Sydney season at the Joan Sutherland Theatre, Sydney Opera House.

The production will travel to Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre, QPAC from 12 March and Melbourne’s Regent Theatre from 11 May, 2017.   Tickets for the Brisbane and Melbourne season will go on sale in October.

Historic Agreement Between Edinburgh and Adelaide Festivals

Today (August 16, 2016) in Edinburgh the Adelaide Festival signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Edinburgh International Festival formalising relationships and setting out joint goals for artistic, business and community collaboration over the next three years.

Rachel Healy, Co-Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival said, "The Memorandum of Understanding between the Adelaide Festival and the Edinburgh International Festival is a watershed for both organisations.
