New Musical, MELBA for Hayes Theatre Co.

Hayes Theatre Co and New Musicals Australia will present the world premiere of new Australian musical, MELBA, from August 11, 2017, starring Emma Mathews

Based on the novel by Nick Hornby and the Touchstone Pictures Film, Neil Gooding Productions (Sweet Charity, Dogfight) and Highway Run Productions (RENT) presents HIGH FIDELITY at Hayes Theatre Co from 18 November 2017.

New Australian Musical To Open 2017 New York Musical Festival

It has been announced in New York that ERROL AND FIDEL, a new musical written by four Sydneysiders, will open this year’s New York Musical Festival, the most prestigious showcase for new work in the music theatre world.

The musical was selected for the Festival (NYMF) from hundreds of submissions from around the world, and is the only overseas production to make the cut.

It has now been chosen for the prestigious July 10 opening night on 42nd Street, and will be performed five times during the Festival.

Jersey Boys Returns

The musical Jersey Boys will open its Australian tour in September 2018 at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre. This premiere season has been secured for Sydney by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.

NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the enduring story and songs of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons continue to resonate with audiences worldwide while finding new legions of fans through the acclaimed musical Jersey Boys.

New Senior Leadership Team for Adelaide Festival

The Adelaide Festival Board has announced respected arts leaders Rob Brookman and Torben Brookman will join the senior leadership team of the Adelaide Festival as Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director.

The pair will work alongside co-Artistic Directors Neil Armfield and Rachel Healy from May, replacing interim CEO Sandy Verschoor.

Christie Whelan Browne to Star in Vigil

Christie Whelan Browne will star in Vigil, an intimate one-woman musical theatrical encounter exploring life, death, love and honesty. After debuting at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Vigil, written by Steve Vizard, will make its Victorian debut at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Fairfax Studio from 4 – 8 July.

Black is the New White at STC

Black is the New White is a provocative new romantic comedy commissioned by Sydney Theatre Company from writer and star of ABC’s Black Comedy, Nakkiah Lui. Directed by STC’s former Richard Wherrett Fellow Paige Rattray (now Queensland Theatre’s Associate Artistic Director), the cast includes Kylie Bracknell, Tony Briggs, Luke Carroll, Geoff Morrell and Shari Sebbens, with set and costumes by former Resident Designer Renée Mulder.<

Young Actors Announced for Sydney Season of The Bodyguard

Producers Michael Harrison, David Ian and John Frost today announced the four young actors who will share the role of Fletcher, the son of the Rachel Marron character, during the Sydney season of the international award-winning hit musical THE BODYGUARD. The young actors are Rome Champion (10 years old, of Pyrmont), Tyrese Medina (8, Russell Lea), Chetachi Nwaogazi (10, Yagoona) and Joshua Scott (11, Carss Park).
