Actress Lisa Peers Helps Bail Out Youth at Risk

For the last two years actress Lisa Peers has been involved with Whitelion Bail Out, the organisation’s biggest annual campaign, which aims to raise funds to support youth at risk, by incarcerating their corporate supporters.

Tony Sheldon Honoured at Sardi’s

Tony Sheldon, the star of Priscilla in Australia, New Zealand the West End, Toronto and on Broadway, has been recognized with one of Broadway’s most notable accolades, a portrait at Sardi’s Restaurant.

Since creating the role of Bernadette in the original workshop, Tony has played the role more than 1,600 times.

It’s a cast with impressive credentials, not to mention serious box office pulling power. In Melbourne’s Plaza Ballroom this morning (Monday 30th April) prolific producer John Frost and Opera Australia’s Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini were on hand to announce the Australian cast for the Lincoln Center Theatre Production of Rogers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific. Jersey Boys 1000th Australasian Performance

Jersey Boys notches up its 1,000th Australasian performance today, Thursday April 26, at Auckland’s Civic Theatre.

Producer Rodney Rigby said, “We are thrilled that New Zealand continues to embrace the great story of four guys from the wrong side of the tracks. The 1,000thshow of Jersey Boys not only marks the great success of the production in New Zealand and Australia, but, of equal importance, recognizes the outstanding contribution of everybody associated with the production worldwide.”

Moonshadow Shines Through on a Gloomy Melbourne Morning

This morning (April 24, 2012)  in a Brunswick studio, with rain pelting the roof, Melbourne’s media were invited to attend a Moonshadow appetiser. Images of set designs and sketches of costumes, not yet made were, the only backdrop, and yet a forty-strong media contingent squeezed into the space.

She Loves Me Next for Neglected Musicals

Sydney based Neglected Musicals has announced She Loves Me as the next Neglected Musical presentation. Directed by Nicholas Hammond with Musical Director Craig Renshaw, She Loves Me is to be presented on Monday 21 May at 2pm and 8pm at the Darlinghurst Theatre.

The cast will include Emma Cooperthwaite, Shaun Rennie, David Whitney, Belinda Wollaston, Tyran Parke, Chris Horsey, Jay James-Moody and Phillip Lowe.

The Book of Everything Scores Rave Reviews in New York

Belvoir and Kim Carpenter’s Theatre of Image production The Book of Everything opened at the New Victory Theater in New York over the weekend of a standing ovation and rave reviews from New York critics.

Melbourne Orphans Named on Annie’s 35th Birthday

You’d have been excused for thinking there was a party at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre this afternoon (April 21, 2012), as twenty-four exuberant girls were introduced to the media. And in a way you’d be right.

Annie’s Executive Producer Walter van Nieuwkuyk was on hand to introduce Melbourne’s three Annies, and the twenty-one orphans who will constitute the three different casts for the season.
