Nufonia Must Fall - Adelaide Festival of Arts 2015

When well-known Canadian turntablist, music producer and graphic novelist Kid Koala (real name Eric San) wrote music that he hoped people would listen to while they read his graphic novel Nufonia Must Fall, he had no idea he was already on the path towards creating the novel’s next incantation. The book eventually morphed into the entrancing multidisciplinary puppet, film and music event of the same name and Kid Koala’s production graces the Adelaide Festival this year.

Liane Keegan Aboard for 3D Flying Dutchman

Liane Keegan, Australia’s only Dramatic Contralto, appears in the Victorian Opera’s ground-breaking3D production of Richard Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman at the Palais Theare, St Kilda, during February. She spoke to Peter Kemp.

Melbourne born, Liane Keegan knew from her school days that a life on stage was for her. As a youngster she was taken to opera rehearsals and upon hearing leading dramatic soprano Rita Hunter, she knew where her future lay.

Full Cast Announced for Return of Rocky Horror

Producers Howard Panter and John Frost have announced the full cast for the 2015 season of Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show, which will play at the Sydney Lyric Theatre from 11 April and the Comedy Theatre, Melbourne from 12 June.

Cabaret meets wacky wine tasting in the one-woman performance The Show Must Goon, which two-woman theatre company Four Stripes is premiering at the 2015 Adelaide Fringe.

Suzie doesn’t know how many tears might be in a bottle of gin but she intends to do her best to find out. She’ll be helped by the audience as they join her for an evening of wine tasting and anecdotes about love, lust, lubricant and liquor.

ANYTHING GOES ENSEMBLE CAST ANNOUNCED

Opera Australia Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini AM and theatre producer John Frost AM today (February 3) announced the final lead cast member and the ensemble cast for their new production of Cole Porter’s musical comedy Anything Goes, which will tour Australia this year.

A Couple of Actors

Guy Edmonds and Haiha Le are playing a newly wed couple in David Williamson’s latest play Dream Home at the Ensemble Theatre.

And in fact they’re a newly engaged couple themselves.

The two actors had met in the cast of Rupert, Williamson’s revue-style portrait of Rupert Murdoch which opened in Melbourne, toured to Washington and was then re-staged at the Theatre Royal Sydney at the end of last year.
