Inside The Mind of a Genius

The National Theatre’s stunning Tony and Oliver Award winning production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is touring Australia. David Spicer spoke to 30-year-old Joshua Jenkins, the actor who plays Christopher Boone - a 15 year old mathematical genius whose special needs do not get in the way of his determination to crack a murder mystery.

Since I have the name Coral I’m used to people saying, “That’s an unusual name, I don’t think I’ve ever heard it before,” to which I reply, “What about Coral Browne?” - only to be met with blank stares most of the time - the “Coral who?” is rhetorical.

Madiba The Musical

The late South African President Nelson Mandela would have turned 100 in July. Now a French musical, Madiba the Musical - a Celebration of the Life of Nelson Mandela, is set to tour Australia and New Zealand. Auditioning For A Musical

Voice teacher and musical theatre performer Jennifer Peers says poor preparation often ruins the chances of success in the audition room. She says the more homework you can do the better.

Let’s face it, it’s stressful to walk into an audition room facing judgement, comparison and frequent rejection.  

As a voice teacher, I spend countless hours helping performers prepare for auditions and yet I still see so many sabotaging their chances for success with poor preparation.

David Walters’ Lifetime Achievement Award

Last Monday 18 June, 2018, a large group of industry professionals gathered at MEAA, Brisbane, to celebrate Lighting Designer David Walters being honoured with the Alan Edwards Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution and continued support of the Arts Industry in Queensland. It was the first time a Lighting Designer had been recognised in the awards.
