For many of them it was the most vital and alive they have ever felt. Their story is told in Minefields and Miniskirts, presented by Harbour Theatre Fremantle (WA) from May 18, 2012.

MEET SWEET CHARITY!

The Regals Musical Society (Sydney, NSW) will present Sweet Charity for one week only from May 15th – 19th at St George Auditorium, Kogarah.

Since the unplanned closure of the Rockdale Town Hall, the Regals Musical Society has found a new home in the St George Bank Auditorium, on Montgomery Street Kogarah and this May they will be performing the Broadway classic Sweet Charity.

Light-hearted Triple Bill for Phoenix

WHAT happens you take a popular Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, add a satirical play about theatre management, then throw in a classic comedy skit?

The answer is a “potpourri of music and comedy” at Phoenix Theatre (WA), from May 11, directed by Barry Page with musical direction from Michael Vertigan.

Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial By Jury is only 43 minutes so Page decided to add the short play How To Make Your Theatre Pay and the skit Dinner For One to complete the evening.

Perve: Centenary Theatre Group Stage Australian Premiere

Centenary Theatre Group at Chelmer in Brisbane’s Western Suburbs will produce the Australian Premiere of Perve by Stacey Gregg, opening on May 5.

Perve premiered at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin in May 2011, and Centenary is the first theatre company outside of the Abbey to perform the play.

Perve is an irreverent and unsettling play that interrogates paranoia, ambiguity and innocence in our highly sexualized world.

Written by Harold Brighouse, the title comes from the expression “Hobson's choice”, meaning no choice at all.

The play has been adapted for film several times, as well as the Broadway musical Walking Happy.
