Federation Students in Addams Family Musical
It’s every father’s worst nightmare. Wednesday Addams, his Princess of Darkness, has fallen head over heels in love with a sweet young man from a respectable family. Can Gomez keep the Addams family together, or will their darkest secrets come spilling out over dinner when two very different worlds collide?
Based on the iconic characters by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, The Addams Family is a new musical comedy from the creators of the Jersey Boys’, Marshall Brickman and Rick Ellice, and Drama Desk-Award winning composer Andrew Lippa.
Presented by the 2016 Graduating Music Theatre Company of Federation University Australia’s Arts Academy, this story is brought to life at Theatre Works this June under the direction of David Wynen and features an ensemble cast of 28 students from the graduating class of 2016.
This original story sees the appallingly delightful world of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Wednesday, Pugsley and Lurch come to life as this gloriously macabre family is put to the test.
As Lucas Beineke and his parents visit the Addams Family Estate, Pugsley’s recent lack of attention from his sister hits him, and he vies to turn things back around to the joys of torture in days gone by. Morticia finds herself conflicted over her ever-maturing daughter’s newfound romance, whilst Gomez simply wishes things would remain the way they were. As they learn to relate to this regular Ohio family, one thing is certain: the Addams family will never be the same.
Cast: Andrew Thomas, Syd Zygier, Bridget Mylecharane, Liam Dodds, Sophie Smyth, Emma Austin, Georgia Moore, Tess Walsh, Emily Roberts, Mackenzie Pinder and Patrick Schnur.
David Wynen’zdirecting credits include 42nd Street, The Life, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Sweet Charity and Cabaret in the Deluxe Spiegeltent. He has been awarded the EJ Barker Fellowship, the Dean’s Award, the Vice Chancellors’ Award for outstanding leadership in his field and the Australian Government Citation for Learning and Teaching for his ground-breaking international work on Tap Rhythm.
