Vale Garry Ginivan
Tributes are flowing for the theatre producer/director/actor Garry Ginivan who has passed away just months after announcing that he was moving away from family entertainment.
For over forty years he was one of Australia's leading producers children's theatre. His national tours included Puff the Magic Dragon and Winnie the Pooh!
Robert Love from the Riverside Theatre Parramatta described Garry as a "one off."
"I first met him when his production of Puff the Magic Dragon played the Seymour Centre. Admired how he tackled every job to get his children’s productions up and running. Remember him building and painting Noddy’s house at the back of the Alexander Theatre at Monash Uni. And of course he performed in many well known musicals many times. He will be missed by us all. The theatre industry was enriched by his talent, commitment and his cheeky humour. Condolences to those that loved him dearly."

"Garry Ginivan was my first Director. I was just 12 and I was in awe and terrified in equal measure. I would go on to work for him three more times before I was 16 and I’ve been lucky enough to come in contact with him many many times over the years in so many different roles. What remained constant is that he was an absolute champion and one of a kind. My desire to make Garry proud has never ceased and I fhel so lucky to have known and learned from him. He is the very reason 1000’s and 1000’s of Australian’s developed a love of attending live performances and He championed so many young actors and supported the careers of those he loved and respected. We lost a good one....... one of the very best."
