Historic Agreement Between Edinburgh and Adelaide Festivals

Today (August 16, 2016) in Edinburgh the Adelaide Festival signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Edinburgh International Festival formalising relationships and setting out joint goals for artistic, business and community collaboration over the next three years.

Rachel Healy, Co-Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival said, "The Memorandum of Understanding between the Adelaide Festival and the Edinburgh International Festival is a watershed for both organisations.

Platform Youth Theatre To Close Due To Funding Cuts

It is with real sadness that the Board and Staff of Platform Youth Theatre announce the company will formally cease operations effective the 31st of August 2016 because, as of this date, we will not have the funds to continue.

The demise of this long standing youth arts resource has come about within the context of significant shifts in Federal funding priorities and cuts - more specifically the extinction of priority funding for youth and young emerging artist programs at the Australia Council for The Arts.

Adelaide Festival's Record Breaking $78.3 Million For South Australia

The 2016 Adelaide Festival generated an estimated gross expenditure of $78.3 million for the state – an increase of 22 per cent in just two years, the highest result in the festival’s history.

19,800 visitors - almost 30 per cent of total attendees - came from interstate or overseas with visitor bed nights increasing to 133,321. Visitor related expenditure was up 24 per cent to a record $28.2 million – a 94 per cent increase on 2014’s figures.
