A New Alice Tumbles into Wonderland at Geelong and Rippon Lea
WAAPA-trained musical theatre performer Sage Douglas to the cast of Australian Shakespeare Company ‘s Alice in Wonderland at Geelong Botanic Gardens and Rippon Lea House & Gardens this summer.
An accomplished triple-threat performer, Sage trained at the Centrestage
Performing Arts School from a young age, winning the Michael Finlay Award at West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).
“I am so excited to be playing Alice! It is such a magical story and this production is so imaginative and interactive I have no doubt I’m going to have the best fun ever!” says Sage.
Sage played Val during the recent Australian revival of AChorus Line. She has also performed in 42nd Street at the State Theatre Melbourne and starred in The Damned for Black Swan Theatre Company at the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia.
By dictionary definition Alice-in-Wonderland equals the completely bizarre, fantastic and illogical, suitable to ‘a world of illusion’. From 28 December-24 January Sage Douglas and audiences will leave their common sense at the gate and dive down the rabbit hole into a world of mad hatters, pipe-smoking caterpillars and smiling Cheshire cats, where children are transformed into hedgehogs and parents into packs of cards, all while keeping their heads from the Queen of Hearts!
Director Glenn Elston has adapted Lewis Carroll’s classic tale into a production for all ages. Performed in glorious gardens settings, this production is full of interactive games and song, providing the perfect setting to allow young imaginations to run free.
Pack a picnic, pack the kids and enjoy the magical adventures of Alice In
Wonderland!
