"Let’s Talk About SEX" - STARC Season 2020
Season postponed!
For the first time, Adelaide’s STARC Productions has decided to theme its season of plays – and this time they are all about SEX!
Premiering off-Broadway in 2010, the first play in STARC's 2020 season is Venus In Fur by award winning playwright David Ives, a hilarious and erotic comedy about sex and power that has wowed audiences around the world.
A playwright/director, Thomas Novacheck, is not having much success finding an actress to play the leading female role in his stage adaptation of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’s scandalous 1870 novel, Venus in Fur. A novel that in turn inspired the term ‘masochism’. Suddenly, an actress called Vanda Jordan arrives and everything changes – everything. What unfolds is a thrilling game of cat and mouse and contest for power that all unfolds over the course of an evening audition. Part satire on the process of castings, auditions, and American theatre in general, this extraordinary, sexy and witty play is also a celebration of the power of womanhood and female sexuality that will make you laugh out loud, question and ultimately, leave you wanting more. A must see for anyone who enjoys good theatre!
