LEGALLY BLONDE skippers join kids for Jump Rope for Heart’s 30TH year

A touch of Broadway glamour and skipping ropes – not something you’ll always see in the same sentence, but at Chatham Primary School, that’s exactly what you’ll see in the playground this week.

On Tuesday 18th June at 1:00pm, the Surrey Hills based primary school will be joined by 3 members of the highly talented & energized cast of LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL, to be shown some of the best skipping moves performed in the show.

Chatham Primary is one of the thousands of schools who have signed up to raise money for the Heart Foundation’s Jump Rope for Heart during its 30th year.

Erika Heynatz, who plays the role of fitness guru Brooke Wyndham in LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL, along with 2 other cast members (Shaye Hopkins & Ash Bee) will be showing some of their signature moves during a performance for the students.

The school was chosen for the event, after being one of the highest fundraisers for Jump Rope for Heart over the past three years.

Heart Foundation Victoria CEO Diana Heggie congratulated Chatham Primary School and encouraged Victorian primary schools to sign up and become Jump Rope for Heart schools if they hadn’t already.

“It’s a great way for schools to get involved in physical activity as well as raising money for lifesaving research into heart disease – Australia’s leading cause of death,” Ms Heggie said.

Ms Heggie said Jump Rope for Heart started in 1983 with the idea of getting primary school students physically active, to make them aware that exercise keeps hearts healthy, and to raise money.

LEGALLY BLONDE’sErika Heynatz said she was looking forward to sharing some of her much practiced skipping skills.

“We are performing some highly complex skipping moves in LEGALLY BLONDE each night,” she said

“It takes a lot of practice and lots of skills – something I’m sure the talented children at Chatham Primary School have,” Erika added.

“They may even teach me some new moves!”

LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICALis performing at The Princess Theatre throughout June and July.

Schools can sign up online at www.jumprope.org.au or by calling Melissa on (03) 9321 1520 or emailing jrfh_vic@heartfoundation.org.au
