Killer Cooks: Cabaret recipe to die for

What do you get when you cross Nigella, the ‘Queen of Food Porn’ with the Countess who bathed in the blood of her young victims...? Killer Cooks, a sinful new cabaret from Clare McCallum.

“The Countess Elizabeth Bathory killed hundreds of young women and bathed in their blood thinking it would keep her youthful... I'd have just gone for Nivea,” says Clare.

Clare’s new show also features some of the world’s favourite lady cooks, Maggie Beer, Julia Childs and Nigella.

Joined Musical Director Samuel Cottell and fellow musician Cam Kinsey, Clare invites audiences to “a night of hilarious cabaret with bite… and while you’re at it, make it dinner and show… Just don’t order the pie!“

Clare recently played Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd. This iconic character got the pin rolling and so Clare embarked research into the non-fictional kinds of femme fatale, and by god are there a lot out there! She says it's been hard to pick only a few to feature…

• Katherine Knight: The only woman in Australian history to be sentenced to life imprisonment. She killed her third husband by stabbing him 38 times and skinning him so well (she was a highly regarded abattoir worker) they were able to put his skin back on and sew him up after the post-mortem. She cooked up parts of his body and served them up with a range of vegetables. Deliciously crazy!

• The Black Widow: not just one, but the many women who have been labelled infamously thus... the universal story of why they do what they do, and what they gained from killing their husbands, besides hard time.
