Geoffrey Rush Sues Daily Telegraph

Actor Geoffrey Rush says he is lodging defamation action against the Daily Telegraph after it printed allegations of inappropriate behaviour arising out of a complaint lodged with the Sydney Theatre Company.

"Today I have filed defamation proceedings against the Daily Telegraph in the Federal Court of Australia.  It is an action I am taking in order to redress the slurs and innuendo and hyperbole that they have created around my standing in the entertainment industry and in the greater community," Mr Rush said at a Melbourne media conference. 

Watch This Present A Little Night Music

Melbourne-based Sondheim repertory company Watch This will bring in 2018 with A Little Night Music, in association with Geelong Performing Arts Centre, National Theatre Melbourne & Whitehorse Centre.

Winner of four Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Original Score, Sondheim’s operatic farce premiered in 1973, based on Ingmar Bergman's film Smiles of a Summer Night.

2017 Rob Guest Endowment Semi-Finalists

Earlier this month, the Rob Guest Endowment held auditions in Melbourne and Sydney to search for this year’s winner of the Rob Guest Endowment Award. After careful consideration, the 30 Semi-Finalists for the 2017 Rob Guest Endowment Award were chosen and announced today (September 20, 2017).

Producers Howard Panter, John Frost and Torben Brookman today announced that Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show would return to Australia in a fresh new production next year, with Craig McLachlan again donning Frank N Furter’s legendary fishnet stockings in his Helpmann Award-winning role. The Rocky Horror Show will re-open the refurbished Festival Theatre at the Adelaide Festival Centre from 28 December 2017, then play at QPAC, Brisbane from 18 January 2018, and the Crown Theatre, Perth from 17 February 2018
