BeyondKinky Concert to Support Beyond Blue

The Australian cast of Cyndi Lauper’s musical Kinky Boots will perform a charity concert at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre on Sunday 18 June to raise money for beyondblue.

Created and performed by the cast of Kinky Boots, BeyondKinky is a one-off opportunity for Sydneysiders to see this supremely talented company pay homage to the divas of pop in their own unique Kinky way.

King Kong for Broadway in 2018

Producers Global Creatures (CEO Carmen Pavlovic) and Roy Furman have  announced that King Kong, will arrive on Broadway in the fall of 2018 at the Shubert Organization’s Broadway Theatre

King Kong’s first preview, press opening, and on-sale dates will be announced in the coming months. King Kong will play the Broadway Theatre following the limited engagement of Miss Saigon which as previously announced will begin its North American tour in September 2018.

Aladdin - Brisbane and Perth Seasons Announced

Disney Theatrical Productions confirmed that its hit Broadway musical Aladdin will extend the magic carpet ride to Brisbane and Perth in 2018.

A waitlist is now open for those wishing to be first in line for tickets when they go on pre-sale in October for Brisbane and November for Perth.

New tickets for the Melbourne season go on sale to the general public tomorrow, Thursday 11 May.

Sondheim's Assassins at The Hayes

Hayes Theatre Co will present ASSASSINS by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman from September 15 2017. 

Since opening the doors in 2014, Hayes Theatre Co has been anxious to present a Stephen Sondheim musical, and we are delighted that the first musical of these will be the one considered by Sondheim himself as coming the closest to his expectations for the show. 

Dean Bryant will direct, with musical directors Lucy Bermingham and Andrew Worboys.

New Australian Musical To Open 2017 New York Musical Festival

It has been announced in New York that ERROL AND FIDEL, a new musical written by four Sydneysiders, will open this year’s New York Musical Festival, the most prestigious showcase for new work in the music theatre world.

The musical was selected for the Festival (NYMF) from hundreds of submissions from around the world, and is the only overseas production to make the cut.

It has now been chosen for the prestigious July 10 opening night on 42nd Street, and will be performed five times during the Festival.

Jersey Boys Returns

The musical Jersey Boys will open its Australian tour in September 2018 at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre. This premiere season has been secured for Sydney by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.

NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the enduring story and songs of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons continue to resonate with audiences worldwide while finding new legions of fans through the acclaimed musical Jersey Boys.

New Senior Leadership Team for Adelaide Festival

The Adelaide Festival Board has announced respected arts leaders Rob Brookman and Torben Brookman will join the senior leadership team of the Adelaide Festival as Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director.

The pair will work alongside co-Artistic Directors Neil Armfield and Rachel Healy from May, replacing interim CEO Sandy Verschoor.

Christie Whelan Browne to Star in Vigil

Christie Whelan Browne will star in Vigil, an intimate one-woman musical theatrical encounter exploring life, death, love and honesty. After debuting at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Vigil, written by Steve Vizard, will make its Victorian debut at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Fairfax Studio from 4 – 8 July.
