Deliah Hannah to Play Grizabella in Adelaide and Perth

The Producers of Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS have announced that Deliah Hannah will play the role of Grizabella in the Adelaide and Perth seasons of the West End revival production of CATS. The show commences in Adelaide on Friday 18 March at the Festival Theatre and in Perth on Saturday 16 April at the Crown Theatre.

Delia Hannah is one of Australia's foremost leading ladies in the world of musical theatre. With over 34 international tours of some of the greatest musicals ever produced to her credit, Delia's accolades include a 2010 Helpmann Award nomination as Best Actress as well as a Green Room Award nomination for the role Adelaide is set to see her play.

Adelaide holds special memories for Delia as her very first performance in the role of Grizabella in Australia was in Adelaide in 1994.  Since that time she has played the role in many Australian and international tours including seasons in Perth, Singapore, Hong Kong, Manila and China.  She has also been a principal soloist in The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber 2011 national and international tour.

Delia Hannah said, "What a joy it is to be joining this stunning new production of CATS and what a brilliant cast!  I can't wait to return in the role of my favorite feline, the sublimely poignant Grizabella."

Delia has earned her place as a superstar of musical theatre from numerous other leading roles, including:- Fantine in Les Misérables (Cameron Mackintosh's original and 10th anniversary productions), Florence in Chess (Australian and New Zealand productions), Roxy Hart in Chicago, The Bakers Wife in Into the Woods (Auckland Theatre Company), Anita in West Side Story, Eva Peron in Evita, Annette in Beach Blanket Tempest, Miss Santiago in The Buddy Holly Story, Glinda in The Wizard of Oz (GFO) and Mrs Peachum in The Threepenny Opera (Silo).  Delia won the Sydney Critics Circle Award for her performance as Mrs Johnston in Blood Brothers, and both Mo and Variety Club awards for her performance as Rose Vibert in Aspects of Love, a role she played in Australia and the UK.

CATS, one of the longest running shows in the West End and on Broadway, received its world premiere at the New London Theatre in 1981 where it played for 21 record-breaking years and almost 9,000 performances.  The production was the winner of the Olivier and Evening Standard Awards for Best Musical.  In 1983 the Broadway production became the recipient of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical and ran for 18 years.  Since its world premiere, CATS has been presented in over 30 countries, has been translated into 15 languages and has been seen by over 73 million people worldwide.

The 2015 Olivier Award-nominated show, which was reworked by the original creative team - Director Trevor Nunn, Associate Director and Choreographer Gillian Lynne, Designer John Napier and Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber - was a sell-out during its run at the London Palladium in 2014/15, with Nicole Scherzinger and then Kerry Ellis playing the role of Grizabella.
