Burning: Logie Winner Libby Tanner in Victorian Premiere
Geelong Production Company and Mad As Us presents a Victorian premiere of Verity Laughton’s award winning Australian play Burning at Courthouse ARTS from June 28 to July 6, 2013.
A couple inherit an old family home. They find a body in the garden; the discovery opens a Pandora’s Box.
Starring two-time Logie Award winner Libby Tanner (All Saints, Pacific Drive, Rescue: Special Ops, Fireflies, Headland), Stephen Macklin, Lauren O'Callaghan, Scott Middleton and Edie Van Vriends.
The production is directed by Chris Baldock, described by Stage Whispers reviewer Coral Drouyn as ‘fast becoming the most sought after director in Victoria.’
Burning was the winner of the 2001 Griffin Award for New Australian Playwriting.
June Matthews, an ex-dancer, and her history professor husband, Stephen, return to her grandmother’s large stone house by the sea immediately after the publication of Stephen’s latest, and most controversial book. June finds the skeleton of what turns out to be a 14-year-old Irish servant girl, Lizzie, from the previous century. Who is she, and what does she mean to June?
