Barrier Breaking Physical Theatre with Weave
Weave Movement Theatre will present their latest ability-inclusive physical theatre performance Flock as part of the 2013 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Flock, at the Mechanics Institute Performing Arts Centre from 19 – 22 September 2013, will be delivered by an ensemble of performers with and without a disability.
Led by Artistic Director Janice Florence, an experienced dance artist with a disability, Flock explores themes of social connectedness, human interactions and social exchanges.
Incorporating dance, movement, theatre, and Weave’s signature style of absurd humour, Flock showcases the talents of a dedicated ensemble, each delivering playful, energetic and exciting performances.
The result is a production that simultaneously offers opportunities for talented performers with and without a disability to collaborate and producephysical theatre works, while showcasing the creative and artistic potentials of diverse bodies, spirits and minds.

Weave Movement Theatre is an ability inclusive performance company based in Melbourne, driven by Artistic Director Janice Florence - an experienced dance artist who is also a paraplegic.
For over 15 years, Weave Movement Theatre has produced ability-inclusive physical theatre works that raise awareness about arts and disability.
Weave Movement Theatre comprises an ensemble of usually around 12 performers, with and without disabilities.
Over the 15 years they’ve been in existence, Weave Movement Theatre has produced 11 productions.
Alongside producing theatre shows, Weave regularly presents workshops and training days, engaging people with a disability in the arts and increasing the capacity of the arts sector to embrace and include people of all abilities.
