Me and My Girl - Perth College Anglican School for Girls (W.A.)
Perth College staff, cast, backstage crew and orchestra members all worked exceptionally hard to create this very successful production which was performed to near full houses for all three performances.
Casting started at the end of 2007. Rehearsals began in March 2008, running twice a week for most of Semester One, stopping for outward bound and the exams then gearing up to three or four times a week for the final two production weeks. This was a challenging musical to stage because the locations moved from London to Hareford and the opulence of several rooms within a 1930’s mansion had to be created on the stage. It was also decided to house the orchestra on stage for this show in order to achieve a better sound balance. The final settings and costumes were a visual treat and the sound quality very good.
The production involved 62 cast members, 31 orchestra members, 12 backstage crew and10 plus staff (including backstage supervision, walk on cameo performances and playing in the orchestra). Costumes and props were also integral to the show and it required many hours of work to collect, collate, fit and adapt these items. Several audience members, including the school principal, enjoyed it so much they came to every performance.
