Bell Shakespeare has recently announced its 2024 National Teacher Conference is now NESA-accredited. Taking place at Bell Shakespeare’s Sydney headquarters and online on 9 – 10 August 2024, the National Teacher Conference, proudly supported by Teachers Mutual Bank, will offer an enriching two days of conversation and learning  about Shakespeare and the way we teach his plays.

Featuring a heavy-weight lineup of speakers including actor and writer Kate Mulvany AOM, Australian author Andy Griffiths, author and social commentator Jane Caro AM, actor and director Kyle Morrison, Professor Liam Semler and more[SB1] , the National Teacher Conference will be an opportunity for teachers to step away from the classroom and learn from top industry practitioners, while connecting and networking with Australian teachers of Shakespeare from diverse backgrounds.

Bell Shakespeare’s Head of Education, Joanna Erskine said “This is an event that will nourish every teacher’s mind and soul. In addition to inspiration and practical strategies to take back to classrooms, teachers will enjoy provocative debates, panels and juicy conversations that will enable them to reflect on their own practice and gain new ideas and perspectives. We'll also be hosting a special soiree on Friday 9 August where we’ll celebrate teachers, connection and Shakespeare against the spectacular backdrop of Sydney harbour.”

“Teachers are working harder than ever, in incredibly challenging circumstances, and they deserve to be valued, supported and celebrated. We invite all teachers to join us, whether live or online, for this exciting two days of inspiration and collegiality.”

The conference will offer presentations from artists, academics, theatre practitioners and teachers discussing innovative approaches to teaching Shakespeare, new concepts and proven tips and tricks for the classroom, panel discussions, interactive workshops and networking events.

Sessions include:

·       Fate, show thy force: Kate Mulvany on a life with Shakespeare | Kate Mulvany AOM

·       Karaoke with King Duncan: Andy Griffiths on the Joy of Play | Andy Griffiths

·       The Elephant in the Room | Jane Caro AM and Ann Caro

·       Aboriginality and Shakespeare | Kyle Morrison

·       Midnights Mayhem: How Taylor Swift unlocks Shakespeare’s sonnets | Prof Liam E. Semler
