Chicago - Carey Senior School - April 2011.

Chicago opened at Carey Baptist Grammar School and played to sell-out houses.  A cast of 53 performers brought this darkly humorous and extremely clever show to life with the aid of professional lighting, sound and choreography.  The cast learned 20 dance numbers under the watchful eye of Choreographer Lisa Callaghan and guest choreographers Dana Jollyand Kelly Aykers(So You Think You Can Dance).

Supporting the performers was an orchestra of 29, performing on-stage for the whole show.  Back-stage were students operating 3 follow spots, running the sound and lighting desks and moving set pieces.

Chicago was staged in the same manner as the current professional touring show – an all black set surrounding the orchestra - providing a simple backdrop for the stunning performances from this talented cast.

Carey has an incredible commitment to it’s co-curricular drama program – this year alone there will be four musicals and five plays – and if the results are anything to go by, there will be many more productions held in the school’s two performance venues – The Memorial Great Hall and The De Young Centre for Performing Arts.
