Yummy Iconic

Yummy Iconic
A wild queer-pop cabaret spectacular. Meat Market, 3 Blackwood Street, North Melbourne. 22 – 25 June 2022.

Yummy is a fabulous cabaret show that features a variety of seasoned drag and burlesque performers led by charismatic emcee, Valerie Hex. This is a sizzling show that is outrageously flamboyant in its costuming, dancing, and circus acts. Apart from figure hugging and revealing costuming the show also features some incredibly vertiginous high heels. Together with the loud thumping music and the unleashed sardonic humour Yummy Iconic produces a cocktail of unrelenting fun and laughter.

The openness of the Meat Market also makes this a superb location for the show as the visual and audio impact unreservedly fills the entire space. The show includes a variety of raunchy and risqué scenarios and makes some very playful connections to the audience. The performances are slick and polished and are impressive for the combination of visual flair and buoyant atmosphere.

The highlight of the show is undoubtedly the amazing circus acts created by Jarred Dewey. His stage persona is wonderfully reminiscent of both circus and burlesque history while adding a contemporary flavour to the performance. Dewey’s trapeze and contortionist work is nothing short of breath-taking. His movements are always stylish and suggestive and often defy gravity.

The Yummy Iconic ensemble also includes Polynesian burlesque princess, Karlee Misi, drag extraordinaire, Bendy Ben, Velma Vouloir and the world’s kinkiest sandwich maker, Jandruze. To describe this show as spectacular is an understatement. Yummy Iconic is a formidable and phenomenal experience that will leave you wanting more.
