The Wizard of Oz
They say – never work with kids or animals; but in this case nothing could be further from the truth.
Three grandchildren and I entered into the world of witches, little people, talking animals, caring adults and a girl who sings like ….Dorothy!!! AND a precious little dog who didn’t put a foot wrong!
I’d already heard this presentation was delightful – it is.
I have only a couple of small grumbles – the sound initially appeared very loud; and this production is very long for a children’s show - over two and a half hours from start time to finish, which had my youngest descendant asking to go home with Dorothy and her 3 friends stills trying to achieve what they were about. Still it’s early days and will no doubt speed up.
Now…outstanding singing, snappy choreography, brilliantly coloured costumes, a simple set, and a very young cast just oozing enjoyment. Dana White as Dorothy – very polished; Tony Alcock as the Lion – our personal favourite, but all the leads were well cast and gave great performances. Special mention to ‘The Trio” – beautiful singing ladies.
This is must-see show for all the family
