Whoop Dee Doo Revue

Whoop Dee Doo Revue
Viva Melbourne, 64-90 Sutton St, North Melbourne. February 27th and March 27th with more dates to be announced.

As the sun sets, a  hidden gem residing  in the Industrial wasteland somewhere in  North Melbourne, just  off an  obscure side street, where the stray cats roam there is this place where a Cabaret team lay their hats and set up for  a night of scintillating entertainment.

The new Burlesque show Whoop Dee Doo Revue runs two  sets on the one night, every month and  at a very cool  venue called  Viva Melbourne.

The  Whoop Dee Doo Revue offers classic burlesque in the tradition of the erotic and exotic  striptease acts that are very seductive and sexually  suggestive. Some  are reminiscent of  the fifties Hollywood era in costume and style. All performers deliver unique individually  crafted  routines, all backed by the five-piece house band, which includes a punchy brass section.

I attended the first  show, not only were my taste  buds tantalized with exotic entrées and colourful cocktails - the entertainment was a real  blast, hosted by Velma Voulair, a very lush and sassy MC. The line up of acts begins with Ferri Maya, who steps out from behind the red velvet curtain on to the stage  she belts out “I Put a Spell On You” (Screaming Jay Hawkins,1956)  twirling a  fine pointy object. She moves to the groove, her act is volatile, and erotic and  involves  random  audience members.

All  acts are theme based including  a  fire eating stripper and  a wonderful magic act by Johnny Gash and other scintillating performances by Miss Maple Rose, Jaqueline Furey, Myra Magdalene. The show’s  focus on diversity  enhances the excitement and entertainment for the audience.

The Whoop Dee Doo Revue  has  a  cool and easy  vibe with  novelty  additions such as the roaming   vivacious   females   in their scanty outfits fanning their big red feathers and the   sexy  one-piece corseted  hostesses servicing the tables.

The audience space is appealing - the curved tiered  plump red  seating  is so very suited to the Burlesque and small tables set for two in the front row offer an intimate setting for those who want to partake and be close to the titillating action.

It is all round fun and entertainment and a must do experience if you  so desire it.
