What to Expect When You Are No Longer Expecting
This biographical show, named for the ubiquitous pregnancy guide What to Expect When You Are Expecting, was perhaps the most touching and moving play at Fringe World. Dedicated to the one in four pregnancies that end in loss, this is one couple’s experience of pregnancy and loss, delivered with passion and great feeling.
Written and performed from the heart by Roe Rowe, supported by her husband Chris who composed and performed original music, the two grieving parents share their story of pregnancy loss, love and learning to live again.
Highly emotional and very raw, Roe’s story has her audience completely involved, as she speaks about a rarely spoken about issue, that affects so many people. The performance space includes a tribute wall, where audience members are invited to remember their own lost babies.
Profits are being donated to Pink Elephants, a support network for people who have lost infants at any stage of pregnancy.
A beautiful and heartfelt production that was expertly structured and very sensitively performed, and an emotional roller coaster for all. Expected to have further seasons, this show is a must see.
