Vision String Quartet

Vision String Quartet
Presented by Musica Viva. Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre, 31 Sturt Street, Melbourne. Saturday 23 September & Tuesday 10 October 2023, and touring nationally.

Vision String Quartet takes a refreshing approach to the performance of classical music. The members of the quartet Florian Willeitner (Violin), Daniel Stoll (Violin), Sander Stuart (Viola) Leonard Disselhorst (Cello) are energetic and youthful and show true vision in their style.

These vibrant musicians play completely from memory making their performances truly astonishing. Without the presence of stands and music sheets the performance takes on a much less formal tone. This allows the musicians to establish intimacy and a strong connection with their audience. They speak directly to the audience, actively encourage applause where ordinarily it is discouraged, and they have a very relaxed and amicable stage presence.

This informality does not result in a less serious approach to the execution of the music; indeed, it is quite the opposite. The musicians are less constrained and more focused on their cohesion and unity, and this makes the performance extremely intense and powerful. It is delightful to witness performers who are able to strike such a perfect and evident balance between enjoyment and professionalism.

The quartet are based in Berlin and their talent has not only garnered a great deal of attention but also a range of prestigious acknowledgements and awards. Their brash confidence is tempered with humility and grace, and they have wide ranging interests in music. Alongside classical music the quartet have also excelled in other genres such as folk, pop, rock funk and minimalist music.

This is a concert which indulges in the sheer pleasure of music and is a great opportunity to experience classical music in both a lively and high-spirited manner.
