Sh*t We Like To Sing - Unfiltered
FringeWorld is back, and with it two new ‘episodes’ in what has become known as the “Sh*t Show”. The first of these is Sh*t We Like To Sing - Unfiltered, featuring an all female line-up and set at a sleepover.
Great work from the pyjama clad performers, Dylan Dorotich, Grace Johnson, Shannon Rogers, Danielle McDonald and Charlotte Louise.
As might be expected at a slumber party, the songs run a gamut of emotions from the celebratory opening number, “Lady Marmalade” and over-the-top satire of “Let’s Generalise About Men”, to the very dark.
Highlights include the fun of Into the Woods’ “Agony”, performed by Grace and Danielle, the moving “Flight”, sung by Charlotte and Dylan, the heartbreak of “She Used to Be Mine” from Grace and the quiet joy of Shannon’s performance of “Changing My Major to Joan”.
Excellent singing throughout, under vocal coach Grace Johnson, with Shannon Rogers’ strong choreography delivered with panache. Sound - which is tricky in this venue - was well handled by Sarah Connolly. There is obvious camaraderie in this team and it plays well on stage.
Sh*t We Like To Sing - Unfiltered is a well-curated hour of high quality musical entertainment - and a wise choice for anyone’s FringeWorld list.
