The Return Of Grazie Fibonacci
A mild mannered Mark Gambino greets his audience in a laid-back, unassuming confident style. Lights down, the show begins. He introduces himself as Grazie Fibonacci and sings an Italian version of “Luna Mezzo Mare” in this encore season of his show The Return of Gracie Fibonacci.
He offers hilarious caricatures of people, both familiar and not so familiar. Gambino is a man with many personas and his show is a mix of comical colorful skits involving costume changes and some audience participation. He is insightfully funny as an airline captain who welcomes all his passengers on board while wise-cracking on fears and doubts about dubious experiences and warnings not to expect anything flavorsome on the journey.
Sounds of impending doom from blockbuster soundtracks are audio explosive, and Gambino knows how to get the audience revved up and thinking about their own sonic movie experiences. He plays a mean whistle blowing soccer umpire, where his physical and miming theatrics are put to good use. He is also a dapper English fellow, donning his leather flying helmet, and it is all “By George” and similar catchphrases of a bygone repressed English manor lifestyle of alcoholism and denial.
He caps off his show with a Roger Raptor “smarter than a dinosaur” quiz. There is a bit of sketch comedy thrown into the mix and a mathematical dilemma than rounds off into a bubble tea.
Mark Gambino is a cruisy type of a guy, and offers an interesting mix of comical fare.
A fun show!
