Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert
Bursting onto the stage at Spotlight, the Priscilla bus erupted in a giant wave of glitz, colour, fabulous costumes and brilliant performances from the extremely talented cast led by Dean Giltinan – Tick / Mitzi Mitosis, David Valks – Bernadette and Brin Jenke – Adam / Feliciajollygoodfellow.
Director/Choreographer Jamie Watt, Musical Director Peter Laughton and Associate Choreographers Jackson Kook and Jessica Ng have presented an outstanding production which rivals the professional show.
Costume Designer Nada (Red) Kulic and her incredible creative team are responsible for the huge array and variety of costumes and accessories, which have taken many months designing, sewing and fitting.
The supporting cast are equally brilliant and the energy from the stage is contagious! The ping-pong ball scene is hilarious and played to perfection by Hannah Rigby.
One of the many highlights of the production is the bus. The director asked for something that resembled the inside of a Gay Op-Shop (what ever that looks like?) and his wish was granted (so I’m told!). Constructed by Spotlight member Joe Burke Jnr, the bus is the centrepiece of the action and one of the best props I’ve seen onstage for a long time.
This production of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert is one of those shows that everybody loves, and nobody wants to go home at the end. The perfect antidote for the world we are currently enduring.
The season was sold out several months ago and even with the addition of extra performances there is still a wait list for any cancellations!
