Me, My Cult and I
Originally advertised as playing just three performances until January 16, the clear popularity of Me, My Cult and I has led to a ‘return season’ late in the FringeWorld festival.
Colin Ebsworth’s parents were matched by Reverend Sun Myung Moon and married in a mass wedding ceremony with thousands of other couples in in Madison Square Gardens. Born in Alabama, Colin grew up in Perth, as part of the Unification Church, colloquially known as the ‘Moonies”.
An established comedian, Colin is very funny and works a crowd with a relaxed easy manner, but this is more than an extended stand-up set, with a highly personal story delivered with love, poignancy, honesty and lots of raw emotion.
While many in the audience probably came for the “crazy cult stuff” (and they get it), they are also treated to some excellent story-telling, skilled comedy and some life affirming insights.
A fascinating person, who takes his audience on a fabulous journey, Me, My Cult and I is a fascinating experience.
