Massaoke Oz

Massaoke Oz
Presented by Wynnum Fringe Festival for the Wynnum Fringe Taster. The Augathella Spiegeltent. 26 – 29 September 2024

Massaoke Oz offers an exhilarating and interactive night of live music with a difference. Originating in the UK and now a worldwide smash that’s a favourite on festival lineups, this high-energy spectacle taps right into the growing demand for immersive, experiential performances.

If you’re the sort who might be too shy for traditional karaoke, Massaoke Oz offers the perfect alternative. The show features a live band that rocks out to all of your favourite retro hits, and you’re encouraged to sing along. The lyrics are projected onto giant screens, so you don’t need to worry about remembering the words to classics like Don’t Stop Believing, You’re the Voice, Smells Like Teen Spirit, or Sweet Caroline —they’ve got you covered. The show packs a lot of hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s in by mixing one tune into the next and editing some down to just the essential verses and choruses.

The live band, led by an enthusiastic and charismatic lead singer, knows how to work the crowd. They make everyone in the audience feel like a rock star from the very start. The atmosphere is electric, thanks in no small part to the lead guitarist who delivers the iconic riffs that define some of the greatest rock anthems. Combined with stunning lighting that evokes the full rock concert experience, Massaoke Oz is as much a visual treat as it is an auditory one.

What really sets this show apart is its inclusivity—this is not just a show you watch; it's a night where everyone becomes part of the performance. Even those who prefer a more relaxed vibe can join in, as it’s up to you how little or how much you sing or dance to the hits. You can even just sit down and watch the action if that’s more your style.

Massaoke Oz is a night to sing like nobody’s listening, dance like nobody is watching, and go home with a sore throat and a huge smile on your face. It's impossible to leave without feeling like you were part of something truly special. Whether you're attending with friends or family, this show is a guaranteed good time.
