Mary Poppins
Like a breath of fresh air, Mary Poppins flew into the Gold Coast captivating the full houses, delighting young and old alike.
This Pro/Am production was bright and colourful. The creative team of Timothy Hill, Director, David Piper, Musical Director and Troy Phillips, Choreographer, had delivered a slick, energetic production.
The principals, lead by Georgina Hopson, Mary; Max Patterson, Bert; Stephen Hurst, George Banks and Carl Tooma, Winnifred Banks, ably supported by the cream of the Gold Coast theatre scene and Mo Award winner Kirri Adams in a memorable cameo performance as the Bird Lady, all contributed to the mystery for which Miss Poppins in renowned.
A highlight of the show was the numerous dance routines taking everyone for a “jolly old knees up” at every opportunity.
Mary and Bert thrilled the audience with their aerialist antics and made it appear “natural”, and at the end of the performance as Mary flew off she was farewelled with a “bye” from a young voice in the audience.
A memorable night at the theatre for all.
