Just Desserts – Adults Only Tasting.
It’s a pleasure to report that Michelle Pearson’s gift - for connecting with audiences and making them feel special - is as strong as ever, in her latest cabaret concept Just Desserts.
She serves sweets that are simply sublime, supplemented by a series of cover songs (some of them clever medleys) delivered with equal parts strength, sincerity, and soulfulness, while generating suspense via audience involvement, and demonstrating tremendous empathy through her telling of life’s experiences - some amusing, others poignant.
The star of the show touches on a range of engaging subjects that include online courtship, social pressures, and self-esteem, tying them in to either the songs being performed or the food being eaten.
It all makes for a strongly satisfying mixture, and a deliciously good time – including the best baklava this reviewer has ever enjoyed!
Pearson and her musical/kitchen collaborators – including a supple four-piece backing-band and some clearly talented dessert chefs - have cooked up the ideal entertainment package, one that you really should taste-test for yourself while it’s still in town.
