I Can Still See All The Stars

I Can Still See All The Stars
By Emmet Aster. Fringe World. Presented by ‘perhaps, a theatre company’. Directed by Emmet Aster. The Middar Room, State Theatre Centre of WA, Perth WA. Jan 28- Feb 1, 2025

This gentle, queer, love story was originally written to make up the creative portion of an Honours dissertation, and plays beautifully on stage.

Charmingly performed, it was a pleasure to watch. A short play, with a great deal of heart, performed as part of State of Play at Fringe World.

Presented by ‘perhaps, a theatre company’ it featured an all-female aligned production team, and two fabulous performers with outstanding chemistry, who created the story of Andie and Tessa, played against echoes of their past.

Excellent work from Lauren Daniels as Andie, and Jessie Kaitan as Tessa, creating a believable and tangible relationship.

Kiana Roberts created a set design that was quite complex for a Fringe show, and although set changes were relatively smooth, the necessity to move a bed on several occasions did slow the action somewhat. Dana Brennan’s costume design was indicative of character, understated but well chosen. Jules Burton provided supportive sound design.

A story that highlights the continuing challenges of queer relationships, well presented with quiet strength.
