Sung in Italian, the English subtitles were available for those new to the opera and simplicity made it easy for everyone to understand.
This opera is usually staged as part of a triple bill, along with Suor Angelica and Il Tabarro known collectively as Il Trittico and as such, was first performed in New York in 1918.
Melanie Smart’s singing of “O mio babbino caro” (Oh my beloved father) was one of many highlights in this entertaining production.
