Footloose
Leading the return of live entertainment on the Gold Coast, Spotlight’s third show since July is Footloose, based on the movie by Dean Pitchford.
This is Nathan French’s first venture into mainstream theatre and for a young director, together with Shari Willner (Musical Director) and Martina French and Jamie Watt (co-Choreographers) has created a fabulous production.
Bryn Jenke stars as Ren McCormack, combining with Georgia Beck, Rachel Love, Ethan Cairns, Lee Stoka, Clay English and a strong ensemble cast to deliver a fast moving show full of great performances including an outstanding characterisation by Ethan Cairns as the gormless country lad Willard.
The ensembles and dancing were slick and polished and the audience was enjoying every minute.
The basic set was augmented by the use of trucks to convey the various locations around Beaumont and the lighting was a great asset in “setting the mood” of the play.
The season of Footloose was sold out before it opened and it’s great to see the community embracing local productions of this calibre.
