Dr Ahmed Gets Hitched - A Wedding Extravaganza
Dr Ahmed Kazmi has been a Fringe favourite for a few years, with sell-out cabaret shows telling about his experiences as a doctor, both in Australia and the UK. This show, just as dazzling, funny and insightful as its predecessors, has a change in focus as Dr Ahmed shares his experience of his own Greek - Pakistani - interfaith - interfaith - interracial - same sex wedding.
That this show is even being mounted at the moment is particularly impressive. Dr Ahmed’s mother, whose disapproval of his wedding is a key element in the show, passed away days before opening night. Huge kudos to him for continuing the show at such a difficult time.
We still get some fabulous musical numbers, and Dr Ahmed's loyal ‘medical’ audience will still get a few special laughs - this show is his biggest roller coaster of a show yet, as he relates the difficulties of finding a partner especially when you are from a culture opposed to same-sex relationships, the pitfalls of dating in general, meeting the man of his dreams, the journey to the wedding and of course the wedding itself.
The audience will find themselves laughing, crying and laughing through tears in this beautifully crafted cabaret that has important things to say - served with a whole heap of sparkle.
Dr Ahmed Gets Hitched - A Wedding Extravaganza is chicken soup for the soul - a beautifully personal show that will touch your heart.
