The Dark Side of the Moon: Full Dome Experience

The Dark Side of the Moon: Full Dome Experience
Electric Dreams. Adelaide Fringe Festival 2025. Dom Polski Centre. Feb 21st – March 23rd, 2025

The Dome Experience is presented by Electric Dreams with Crossover Labs, a team of curators and producers who develop innovative programs for arts entertainment festivals around the world.

The Dark Side of the Moon album by English band Pink Floyd was released in 1973 and celebrated 50 years in 2023. As a celebration of the continued success of this legendary album an official planetarium show was developed. Imagine a fully immersive video that compliments the iconic music of this well-known album. This presentation is not just for fans of music, with 360-degree visuals that transport you out of your reality.

The Dome seats 40-50 people, with beanbags scattered on the floor and chairs toward the back. The audience is ushered in and zipped into the dome enclosure. I spread myself across two beanbags and laid face up; I was extremely comfortable.

Images are splashed on the ceiling as the familiar tones of the first track Breathe fills the air. Transported into the universe we float through space and marvel at the endless beauty beyond the stars, the visuals are stunning – complimenting the soundtrack perfectly. The album features ten tracks, including The Great Gig in the Sky, Us and Them, Time, Money and of course the title track, Dark Side of the Moon.

The hour flew by as I was mesmerized by the mind-altering images swirling around my head. This production was pure escapism and joy.
