Bring Out Your Dead
Bring Out Your Dead is a fun little black comedy from unBALANCED Productions that is brightening patrons’ late evenings at the Girls School.
When Riley wakes one evening after a very rough night, he finds himself on his couch with a dead body. Unable to remember the night before, he concludes that he must be responsible. With flat-mate Finn he tries to deal with the situation despite the interference of a nosy neighbour and a badly timed burglar.
A dynamic performance from Alex Hutchings as central character Riley, with great high energy support from T. Mutta Beiby as his flatmate Finn. Christian Dichiera gives power and drive to annoying neighbour Clancy, while Keely Moloney gives surprising depth and believability to the rather likeable house-breaker. Kudos to Sebastian Boyd as dead body Mark, who is thrown around with abandon - and who fully commits to his role - not an easy task, especially on what was obviously a very warm stage.
Nicely written and directed by Ella Randle, this show is generally well paced and its broad-stroke and nicely flawed characters keep us invested throughout. This has the feel of an older style farce - but re-imagined for a younger, hipper crowd - so it would have broad appeal.
Bring Out Your Dead is an easy and fun way to finish off a night at Fringe World. Some talented young creatives in an easy to watch, short show.
