Baby Shark and Tails of the Seven Seas

Baby Shark and Tails of the Seven Seas
By Chris Vuk. FringeWorld / Music Makers Foundation. The Theatre at Planet Royale, Lake St, Northbridge, WA. Jan 18 - Feb 2, 2024

Baby Shark and Tails of the Seven Seas, presented by the Music Makers Foundation as part of FringeWorld, had sellout seasons at both the Edmonton and Edinburgh Fringe, and I would have thought, given its recognisable branding, that similar sales would be happening here.

Aimed at children aged 0-8 and their parents, this is a family show in more ways than one, as it stars Chris Vuk as Firefox, our leading man come host, with his children. Arden Vuk played the title role of Baby Shark, with Eldar Vuk playing a version of himself as Elder the Magician (and executing show themed tricks live), while Altair Vuk is kept busy playing a Kangaroo, Elephant, Rhinoceros Beetle and Wolf.

A show that combines audience interaction, the opportunity for kids to join in singing and dancing, with some music and geographic education, we travel with Firefox and Baby Shark around the world on a rescue mission, learning facts about different countries and songs along the way.

The show has great audiovisuals which adds to its production values - and audience members are given access to the songs performed, which means that fans can continue the fun at home.

Chris Vuk is a great frontman and works the crowd well - and gives us a taste of his talents as a violinist - as performer ‘Blue Violin’ he has another show at FringeWorld.

The audience was very light at the performance I watched (about 10% capacity), which made the children in the audience a little reluctant to get involved, and I feel this may have muted the energy of the children on stage as well (that or the over 40 degree Celsius temperature - which I am sure they don’t get at home in Colorado). I imagine that this show really rocks with a full house.

Perfect for Baby Shark fans, this is a great show for Preschoolers to around Year 2 and has enough going on that accompanying adults will enjoy the experience as well.
