Around The World in Eighty Days
The fifty-odd members (all aged 13 to 18) of Doublemask (under the supervision of Lachlan Glasby) have presented an interesting adaptation of the Jules Verne Novel for their final production for 2015.
Taking ownership of the production: they scripted, planned, and produced the entire show themselves.
Doublemask member Molly McPhee created the script and the emerging talents of the teenage members staged an interesting telling of the Verne story.
On entering the auditorium, patrons had their tickets checked and some caught the attention of the “over zealous” security guard and were subjected to the mandatory “pat down”. Whilst waiting the for the show to start there were numerous snippets of relevant traveller information over the PA system.
The show itself was full of energy and youthful ingenuity and the many scene changes were cleverly executed.
Leading players Ella Magee Carr, Kayla Hall, Molly McPhee, Mike Graham, Shelly Stanford and Ricardo Pritchard were well supported by the large ensemble. The show lasted about ¾ hour and was a memorable piece of entertainment.
Congratulations to all concerned and I’m looking forward to their 2106 season.
