Amelia Ryan – Lady Liberty

Amelia Ryan is sassy, sexy and super fun. Tapping into society’s perception of beauty and perfection, and smashing the absurdity of it all, she quickly establishes herself as a strong, free-thinking woman of the 21^st century. Paying homage to the women that have come before her, such as Gloria Steinem, Maya Angelou and Madonna, Ryan is passionate in her need to let her audience know that we are right where we should be and we are blessed.

Taking songs such as ‘Time after Time’, ‘Chandelier’ and the Broadway smash ‘I Believe’, and replacing the lyrics with humorous observations and anecdotes, she quickly has the crowd cheering in support.

Ryan has charm and sincerity that resonate, ensuring she gains the trust of the audience as she pulls them up to participate in her hilarious parodies. Playing her version of ‘Never have I ever’ was side-splitting and added a welcome naughtiness to the evening.

Vocally Ryan is strong, but at times the volume of the band and speakers was too loud, drowning out her witty lyrics. This was forgiven quickly as she moved from one song to another, followed up by stories of her own self-discovery. Backed by a talented three piece band Ryan had all the ingredients for a hilarious hour of relatable antics. Comedic cabaret at its finest!
