40+ Fabulous

40+ Fabulous is a solo comedy show presented by Emma Krause. Possibly best known as Sue Finley from the AusLotto ad series (which also star her dog Molly), the schoolteacher and Mum was also a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent. Playing at a variety of venues throughout Perth during FringeWorld, the Monday night performance that I saw was completely sold out.

Running her own tech from her Smart Watch and phone, with her daughters managing Front of House, this is a very independent operation, which adds to the charm. Extremely funny and very warm, she had her mostly female audience onside within seconds and the laughs flowed freely throughout the hour-long show. The few men scattered in the audience (divide and conquer) also seemed to have a ball, with some audible snort laughs being heard.

Emma’s topics include parenting (she is the mum of twins), husbands, renovating, teaching, the importance of wine and Kmart, and her style is personable, self-deprecating, and honest.

A little insight into the reasons she started doing comedy is a wonderful mood change towards the end of the show and provides an excellent message as well as enhancing the show as a whole.

A “fabulous” choice for a night out with your workmates or girlfriends, this more-than-a-laugh-a minute show is a fantastic mood lifter.
