Fancy Dress Costume Stylist & Retail Sales Consultant
We’re looking for a creative, energetic, time-flexible people-person to step into the role of Costume Stylist & Retail Sales Consultant in our eclectic fancy dress business based in the heart of Crows Nest, Sydney.
Fancy That! Costumes is in the business of helping people celebrate & play more, providing costume hire & balloons in Sydney plus retail costumes both instore & online shipping Australia-wide - all the while retaining that boutique feel, with an emphasis on quality & service that continues to differentiate us from online-only players (see our Google reviews).
This position is primarily responsible for assisting customers in Costume Hire, with a secondary focus on retail sales. It requires a strong knowledge of pop culture & fashion trends through the ages, with the ability to quickly dive into our wardrobe to produce costume options our customers will love.
The role will start as casual, moving to permanent part-time after an initial 3 month period. Time flexibility however, is critical. The role has become available due to the incumbent moving on after 6 years, however it clashes with a pre-approved 2 month leave period of our Wardrobe Manager. We are needing someone to come on board Tues/Fri/Sat asap for training, then step up full time Tues - Sat across the months of June & July, then back to a minimum of two days a week permanent part-time from August onwards, with additional shifts across the busy end-of-year party season. In the initial 2 month period, you'll be managing the wardrobe independently Tues - Fri, with assistance from the incumbent on Saturday, our busiest day.
In addition to the qualities noted above, you’ll need to be supremely organised & thorough, plus comfortable working independently after an inital period of focused training. Prior fancy dress costume experience not required (our Wardrobe Manager is a former nurse, florist & caterer) - we hire for attitude & aptitude. Preference for somebody planning to stick with us for at least the next 2-3 yrs, PLUS no ageism here - myself & my 2IC are in our (super engergetic, ladder-climbing prime) 50s!
If you'd like to explore joining our small, friendly team in a role where you can really take ownership, be creative & have fun at work, please forward your resume & whatever else you deem appropriate to introduce yourself to us by Sunday 13th Apr. We'll be moving super fast on this one.
