State Theatre Company South Australia 2022 Season

State Theatre Company South Australia’s 2022 season ranges from new Australian works and a big new musical to a shaken-up classic and celebration of an Australian sporting legend.

The company, which in 2022 marks 50 years since it was legislated into being by former Premier Don Dunstan, officially launched the season at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 13 Oct.

Artistic Director Mitchell Butel says he has set out to deliver a dynamic and ambitious season, with theatrical experiences ranging from grand and sweeping to the intensely intimate.

Belvoir Artistic Director, Eamon Flack said, “Theatre is a leap of faith at the best of times: anything could happen at any moment. It’s the one-off-ness that makes it special. The pandemic only makes it even more special. The instinct to gather for a story is irrepressible. It’ll never end. We’re still here. Join us”.
