Independent Theatre’s next production, Ross, by Terence Rattigan, premieres on Remembrance Day, November 11, fitting timing for a man who was a reluctant WWI hero and who helped change history forever. Lesley Reed reports.

Producers John Frost, Michael Harrison and David Ian have announced that Australian vocalist and performer Paulini will play the leading role of Rachel Marron in the Australian Premiere of the international award-winning hit musical THE BODYGUARD. The 2017 Australian tour of THE BODYGUARD will commence at the Sydney Lyric Theatre on 22 April 2017, before playing at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC, Brisbane from July and the Regent Theatre, Melbourne from August.

With the Australian Premiere of Tony Award winning Kinky Boots in Melbourne approaching, Coral Drouyn muses on shoes, pop divas and men in women’s roles as she talks to the young star of the show, Toby Francis.

Since the days of Greek theatre, through to Shakespeare’s Globe, then English pantomimes, there have always been men in frocks playing female roles.

After two successful years of operation at the intimate 63-seat Old Fitz Theatre, welcoming more than 32,000 people to 65 different shows, Red Line Productions have planned an even bigger season for 2017.
