It explores the loving relationship between a widower, Harry, and his gay son, Jeff, as they embark on their individual searches to find the right partner.

Wicked Closes in Australia on September 11

Spicks and Speck- tacular – The Finale

Adam Hills, Alan Brough and Myf Warhurst will hit the road from November 15 with a national live tour to celebrate seven years of Spicks and Specks.

Belvoir Hit The Book of Everything for Adelaide

A hit at Belvoir in 2010, The Book of Everything plays a short Adelaide season prior to heading for Broadway.

The magical production The Book of Everything is told through the eyes of nine-year old Thomas, a little boy who dreams big and who is determined to make sense of his life and achieve his modest ambition - to be happy. Adelaide Festival Centre and Windmill Theatre will present Belvoir and Kim Carpenters’ Theatre of Image’s The Book of Everything at Her Majesty’s Theatre from 17 – 27 August.

The Divine Miss Bette Returns to Sydney

Trained by the man who discovered Bette Midler, Catherine Alcorn returns to Slide Bar, Darlinghurst (NSW) in The Divine Miss Bette for August and September shows.

After sold out shows in Melbourne and a recent performance with Mark Nadler at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Catherine Alcorn returns to Slide for on Fridays 12 August and 16 September.

flowerchildren World Premiere

Due to huge demand, there will be an additional performance of flowerchildren on Tuesday September 6, at 8pm.

Magnormos will present the world premiere of flowerchildren, the new musical about the turbulent private lives of The Mamas and Papas between their spectacular rise to fame in 1966 and their tragic demise only four years later, in 1970.

2011 Helpmann Awards

The 2011 Helpmann Awards, Australia’s equivalent to Broadway’s Tony Awards and London’s Olivier Awards, were presented at the Sydney Opera House on, August 1. Red carpet arrivals began at 7.30pm prior to televised the presentation ceremony which commenced at 8pm.

RECORD YEAR FOR AUSTRALIAN LIVE PERFORMANCE SECTOR

Melbourne. August 1, 2011. Live Performance Australia [LPA], the peak body for Australia’s live performance industry and presenter of this evening’s Helpmann Awards®, today released its Ticket Attendance & Revenue Survey  2010, which shows record revenue growth for the sector.           

Chief Executive of Live Performance Australia (LPA), Evelyn Richardson said overall, revenue grew 22.6% to $1.3 billion, while attendances grew 13.5% to 17.2 million paid and unpaid tickets.
